Thankfully, the massive scraping was against a small wiki with low complexity (in computational costs) pages, which "only" slowed down all the wikis I host. At the end, if the backend starts lagging a lot, the frontend cache stops sending requests to the backend and only serves cached responses, to at least allow anonymous readers to still access cached pages.
