I think yesterday and today may well be my favorite workdays of the year: just on the heels of a restful holiday break but before all of my colleagues have returned to work. I have gotten several much-delayed tasks taken care of without being interrupted by the nonstop email onslaught, not to mention that there were hours of blissful meeting-free time on my calendar to get the work done in the first place.
IOW, I think I needed everyone around me to take a vacation just as much or more than I needed to take one.
