Mastodon question: are photos automatically compressed when posting? Is that dependent on the client, the server, built into the protocol, or which app you use?
I’ve been pre-compressing photos from iOS’s gigantic files since my server is paid for by friends, but I’m wondering now if that’s been an unnecessary step.
