L'aligot comú (Buteo buteo) és el rapinyaire mitjà més nombrós a Catalunya. Sovint el podem veure aturat en pals prop de la carretera, on descansa o bé cerca preses. La seva coloració és força variable, i a l'hivern ens visiten alguns exemplars força clars (diuen que al nord d'Europa abunden més aquests exemplars clarets).
