@TechConnectify was thinking about why in germany there isn't much more "Drehstromanschlüsse" (IEC 60309 - our version of doing just another contact and having large appliances with huge power consumption - ~400V at home) in houses for such appliances
and then I remembered that we already have 240V/16A from pretty much any outlet nowadays. That's "only" 3800W, so a bit smaller than what you now have, but I'd guess its close enough for most people to just never bother looking for something more
