@trouble Perhaps. I really like the LED rope light because its round cross section means it can bend in all directions, which is a huge plus for non-permanent wheel installation since you can weave it between the spokes.
LED strips are permanently adhered to the rim; we'll see if the neon LED tubes I ordered have enough lateral bend to work. Only downside is I can't find any domestic suppliers with the right profile and dimensions, but I'll keep looking...
