Les abelles del gènere Amegilla són abelles solitàries que excaven els seus nius a terra. Tenen un vol ràpid i poden visitar moltes flors en pocs segons, el que fa que siguin difícils de fotografiar. La espècie de la foto és un mascle d'Amegilla quadrifasciata.
