Decades spent talking about the semantic web, and billion-euro retailers still spend obscene amounts of effort writing scripts to scrape each other's websites to figure out what the going prices are. It's a silly arms race. Just force them to submit all their prices to some central CC-0 database with a public API: they'll end up liking it. (I don't even care if it's publicly run, it could be a trade association.)
