Maybe I missed it but there's another unaddressed fact against rural bicycling mobility:
Danish authorities (from forestry organizations to communities) give low priority to availability of existing rural infrastructure. An example is the cyclepath near us that has been submerged in water since January (requiring a four km alternative route over a dangerous road).
Unfortunately data sharing is also low. In OSM and government route planners this route is "open".
