My thoughts on it is that there's a culture difference and lack community difference as well
of course the concept of decentralization and what not is confusing, but there are communities that have succeeded in fedi, even VRChat ones just not a more universal one or for me I think an EN community.
Looking at Buicha.social, they're doing great at being a JP VRC community
misskey.resonite.love has done the same as a resonite JP community
For for EN, there really isn't a dedicated community server for vrc specifically (even my own is very closed off to a target demographic aligning with people I most engage with in VR, but the reason I did this was because I wanted to be sure I supported a community I was a partof, and also didn't fall into the same issues I have seen many other servers run into before my own. Which is mods overwhelmed with too much to do, and costs getting out of hand for a free volunteer service.)
As far as the culture difference, I think many people in our community are very interested in "engagement" first before conversations and socializing. Fediverse has felt much stronger to me in the conversation side.
I will say, that fediverse allowing reaction emoji feels like you are more likely to get some of that "engagement" on simply because of the fact that people can not only like your post, but communicate an action/emotion/reaction more clearly without the use of words. Some fedi software only treats a like as a "like" and thats it.
While bluesky ha seen user growth, man I am just in love with the more fun side of the fediverse like that, and idk, I am far more inclined to stay here but am at least using that scuffed bridge to try and connect with bsky people without having to manage 2 socials :nkoLaugh:
