I do not know if it still is going on. However when I was a free bird, walking around Universities, "elders" in METU and Bilkent were telling us youngsters that excessive use of English was against Marxist ideals due to several sensible reasons...
Meanwhile in my poor school with its skin deep concerns, they were telling us that excessive use of English has a weakening effect on school's "image" which reduces hiring rates of newly graduated people from BoUn...
