Spoke too soon. I ended up having some really strange issues after posting the last toot.
tl;dr - my second monitor causes my system to not boot into the OS and leaves me with a black screen.
I needed to restart the PC to apply some updates but after it powered down and started powering up, I was greeted with a black screen. I would see the motherboard's logo flash up, then black. After being "stuck" in the BIOS for a while and reading through various forum posts, I rebooted and it got me back to the OS.
Fast-forward an hour or two and I was ready for bed, I restarted the PC after some troubleshooting recommended switching to the (nvidia) propriety drivers if I was experiencing stability issues. Same thing again, I was greeted with the black screen, no errors, just a blank screen. I hadn't seen anything for the boot sequences logs that appear on Arch (btw). I shut it down and left it for this morning.
After unplugging everything and working backwards, I found that when I plugged my second monitor in, I would have the issue. I then went and plugged my main monitor in to each port on my GPU individually to see if there was an issue with the ports. No problems. Booted up perfectly. Did the same thing with the second monitor, black screen every single time. I just haven't tested the HDMI port on the GPU/monitor.
As long as I have the main monitor as the only one plugged in, I'm fine. As soon as the second one is plugged in (even by itself), then I get the black screen.
If the HDMI works, I might try sell it and see if I can use that money for a ultrawide.
