Erica Stanford our current Minister for Education proclaiming that kids should be at school instead of the hikoi is such an incredibly out-of-touch and condescending take.
These rangatahi are learning our history, not just from a book, but they are experiencing it in real time as it happens and being immersed in their own culture, learning from kaumatua and seeing role models that they can identify with by being a part of it.
