@simondassow who will do the payment though? Note that all of the js engines are (I think) still designed to load Java classes. Imagine writing public static something all the time for the client code or those applets of the past instead of JS. IIRC another abomination called Flash killed the applet thing (I recall doing some stupid animations with that), which itself eventually deceased, thanks to Apple :)
