@GwenTheKween Again, what sways me is the quality of the work. That's it. And Rowling lost me at book three to be honest.
Again, bad people make good art all the time. Perhaps being autistic in the 2000's, living with that unrelenting hatred to the point it just became as accepted as the wind in my hair and the earth beneath my feet...has left me so callused I cannot feel anything.
And I never said necessarily anything about paying for it. I may, I may not.
It better be pretty damn good.
I am used to fighting alone. At most, with my fellows by my side.
I expect nothing from my oppressors. Nothing. I'm not looking to change their hearts. I'm looking to render their hate irrelevant. And worrying about how they feel about me makes doing that impossible.
This is how I approach things whether in regards to being autistic, bisexual, or trans.
The world is not made for me, yet it is as much mine as anyone elses. But every day will be a fight to exist. That is my lot in life.
Most people will find me offputting, frightening, and even repulsive. That is my lot in life.
Most people may even deny my full humanity. This is my lot in life.
But I'll be damned if I'm going to let them continue to turn their laws and institutions against me and my brethren. They can say anything they wish about me. They can feel anyway about me. That's their problem.
It's only my problem because the laws and institutions are on their side. Change that? And I consider my fight done.
Again, only my position. I don't expect you or anyone else to agree with it.
Make no mistake, no platform when I can. And generally I will pirate if the person is particularly odious but their art is good.
