I know it’s not the same for everyone, but music has always played an important role in my life. Neither of my parents seemed particularly bothered by what they listened to, even if they did prefer some things more than others. I do remember, however, that we would sit around as a family and watch Countdown. 1980’s Australia. It was the best way, as far as I was concerned at a young age, to discover new music. I remember generally liking the bands more than solo artists. Saturday morning Rage would play the charts. My sisters, particularly my eldest sister, were more than happy to listen to the top 40. As the 90’s approached and I got closer to my teens, it was bands like Transvision Vamp and Ratcat that really caught my attention. Music that didn’t seem as safe as the other stuff that I heard. Rock music. I got into Guns n Roses. Through one of my sisters and her cool friends I discovered The Doors and Led Zeppelin and Iron Maiden
