Toot

GitLab 17.4 was released a few weeks ago, in which I contributed what I think is an important and impactful rework of the empty project page.

I've been working across several GitLab instances in the last year, and each time I wanted to push some work to a new project I had to manually modify the git commands provided by GitLab because they weren't matching my needs (global git config instead of local, SSH clone when my firewall allows only HTTPS...).

Not anymore. I reworked this page to display every available option in a clear and readable manner. Now one can simply choose the config one wants and copy it with a single click. You can see the changes (before / after) in the pictures.

It was my first significant contribution to GitLab, it took me way more time than expected but the GitLab team helped me a lot and I learned along the way, so it was a really good experience. For the curious you can find the MR here : https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab/-/merge_requests/159887

I'm curious to hear from the developer community if that is a change that will impact you too ?
