@fredy_pferdi @matchboxbananasynergy @shady_ The receive-only GNSS radio exists for location detection and is the main way to do it either outdoors or in wood frame buildings not blocking it.

Network-based location is normally done based on Wi-Fi, cellular and Bluetooth beacons. At least in cities, Wi-Fi is the most important part of it and provides the most.

Cellular is not needed for location detection. Pixel Tablet lacks both GNSS and cellular but can still detect location via Wi-Fi.
