shit, I've got huge problem with this attitude.
As you can see in the thread below, @o_simardcasanova is praising available algorithms, but I think it's missing the niche targeted by ActivityPub.
AP and most of the services compatible with it are a bit like RSS, but it's interactive. And I think that's beautiful. That's why people start using Fedi and stay here, to have "old internet" vibes from it. Sure, some of them start using Threads instead, which is, in theory part of Fedi (but I think it's not even sensible, because their federation is very limited, because of defederation) but they're (used to be?) one-way interaction. People on Bsky and Threads do NOT seek for something novel, they want Xitter without Space Karen. Fedi has got different philosophy.
You've got to do something on your own to have sensible wall, but that's nice - you've got exactly what you want. You want something new? Open some random server, and you're free to browse or on Mastodon - you just open Explore tab.
Meanwhile Bsky and Threads are the same as Twitter and Instagram at their core. Maybe not now, but in some time, rather shorter than longer, those will be enshittified with ads and shitstorms about minor things. In the "true" Fediverse, that's not the case - shitstorms are often contained in the 2-3, maaaybeee 4 servers and that's it. Ads? Nobody will boost them, so there's no use, as nobody will see them.
Fediverse and ActivityPub are trying to recover good, old days, that we lost to corporation-driven (anti-)social media. Facebook (I refuse to call them Meta) probably will go Microsoft way (just like with XMPP, together with MS and Google) - Embrace, Extend, Exterminate
