Hmmm... I am actually satisfied with my printer and a 0.8mm nozzle, but getting the retraction tuned is a nightmare, so the surfaces have sometimes holes in them. Artifacts is something I haven't experienced with this nozzle. Maybe try to get PLA working fine before going with petg.
