Every so often in language learning, you hit a point where it suddenly feels like you're backsliding (usually because you've improved enough in some aspect that you suddenly realize how much further you have to go), and learning Japanese pitch accent has definitely got me deep in one of those periods. After years of having fairly fluid pronunciation, I'm back to constant stumbling. I know I'll eventually make it back, and with better pronunciation than I had before, but for now it kinda sucks. 😮💨
