Found this beautiful machine today.

I haven’t bought it yet, but I very well may.

Even if it needs cleaning or refurb work, it’s been a while since I’ve given myself a project like this.

The owner wasn’t at the shop, so I’ll have to go back and ask about it. It was just sitting in a lower storage cabinet in one of the record stores I frequent.

Even if it’s beyond fucked and unrepairable, I’d still like it as an #art piece.

@Axonite yeah man! Even if it doesn’t work, I’d still like to clean it and have it in my house as an art/conversation piece.

I see it going right in that second shelf hole down. If I have to knock a slat out, I will.

@TheVinylApe Those sound so good. Even if it needs a little work it would be a fun project. And you can find decent reels on eBay and elsewhere.

@TheVinylApe The novelty wore off for me & I did quite well selling everything on eBay a year ago. But one of the tapes I had was the early 70s in-flight music program for TWA. It was an awesome!

@caravan I’ve bought other weird things from him before. He’s a fair businessman, and I’m in there ALL THE TIME. God only knows how long that’s been sitting down there. I’m sure he’d be happy to get rid of it.

I have been seriously considering buying two reel to reel machines so I can do the frippertronics thing again (did some stuff in the #80s ). This would be the right kinda machine.

A highlight of my life was seeing and speaking with Robert in the late 70s, while he was demonstrating his Frippertronics setup in a record store. He was very patient and kind.

@icastico @StudioCoffee64 The IG / social media stuff he did/does with his wife Toyah was fantastic. They may still get dressed up and play around, but I haven’t been on any awful social media in many years. This is all I’m on and all I use.
