Any member of the House can file articles of impeachment under a privileged resolution against Trump for selling the federal government to the biggest donor of all time and shirking his duty to take care that the laws are faithfully executed. It would be tabled, but it would also be covered.

Or for a dozen other things. The point would be to get people to acknowledge that we're seeing a soft coup and not just Trump being Trump.

@JoshuaHolland My thoughts exactly. Thank you.

@JoshuaHolland Yeah, FFS, remember when Qbert made noise about impeachment and didn't even spell "impeach" correctly?

@JoshuaHolland Someone should do it ever...single...day.

@JoshuaHolland They should be filing big blanket, and tedious small ones explicitly defining broken laws. For every Court battle he's embroiled in, there should be a matching impeachment filing. You're right, they will never be seen on the floor, but that's the only tool they have and at least it will be in the history books.

At some point, we may have to admit that insurrections which suffer no consequences were supported by all parties.

Totally agree. An apple a day? An impeachment a day.

@JoshuaHolland They can also be brought be the states, if people want to pursue that method.

@weyoun6 No, states don't have that power.

@JoshuaHolland they do. Resolutions to impeach Bush Jr were pushed at the state level during his term. I think Washington got the closest. It's authorized under the manual of procedure.

@weyoun6 No they really don't.
Read the first sentence of that post:
"If the state of Washington ends up passing a joint legislative resolution next month calling on the US House of Representatives to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Bush..."
States can "call on Congress" to do whatever but only Congress has the power to impeach. You can google Article 2, section 4 for more info.

@JoshuaHolland
and it must be entered into the Congressional Record!

@brianrepko He is not.

@JoshuaHolland This strikes me as an awful tactic. It's wasting everyone's time and diluting focus when there are courts that can enjoin the egregious acts (e.g. https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/69607077/1/alliance-for-retired-americans-v-bessent/) and force discovery.

@JoshuaHolland Bottom up, people! Follow the money, people!
Trump's already collected bribes / protection money from the heads of Meta, Alphabet and Apple. Trump's DOJ isn't going to prosecute anyone that's not on their enemies list. The House isn't going to impeach and the Senate isn't going to convict.
That leaves civil courts, state courts, the free press and the streets.
Bottom up, people! Follow the money, people!
