Democratic leadership is AWOL.
After their former presidents were voluntarily paraded in fascist Trump's triumphant inauguration, most leaders of the Democratic party seem to have vanished.
Those pompous former defenders of "democracy" are now betraying people's trust and cowering away, hiding in the shadows while the fascists take down one by one the institutions of the US.
Who are the democratic people supposed to look up to for inspiration and guidance in these dark times?

@65dBnoise that's unfortunately the threat of dictatorship. They are (rightfully?) afraid of retaliation from the current administration, for their own lives and those of their family. Were they to speak against the current administration, there are no guarantees they would not see their security details revoked like Faucy et al.
Is it cowardice? Absolutely. But few people are actually willing and able to stand up to oppressive regimes. This is why they have been so successful around the world. Threathen the opposition, silence the dissidents, control the press, impose the narrative. It's straight from the dictator's playbook.

Then they are political midgets, absolutely unworthy of public office and people's trust, now shamefully collapsing straw-men cosplaying being politicians.
They were elected on express promise to fight for democracy. They are PAID to fulfill their contract with the people. They are/were in position to decide the fate of millions of people and families in the US and abroad, and they did so without blinking an eye. Why should we give a fuck about and find excuses for them?

@65dBnoise please don't think that I am excusing them of anything. I agree that it's awfully disappointing, and disgusting even to have been used and misled by these supposed "leaders." I agree that they are not worthy of respect for giving in to the dictator. Hopefully history will judge them for it.

I, and others, have lived in fascism and know what it takes and how it feels. Such betrayal by those pretending to be leaders has always been paid back by contempt and political death, by the people.
Men and women with much less recognition and benefits, have stood up to tyrants, many losing their lives in the fight. Those we remember and look up to for courage and inspiration. Coward politicians deserve shame and ridicule. I hope that happens to these cowards, too.
