I never made the connection before but Alan Moore is giving it the full Merenghi in this 80s interview from the BBC archive alongside David Cronenberg and Ramsay Campbell

Moore and Campbell both emphasise the influence of their environment on their taste for horror fiction which makes me think we are in for a renaissance in that field.
