Nerves a bit frazzled, so starting the day quiet. A modern classic? If I hadn't heard it before, I'd have guessed it was released in the late 70s/early 80s by Brian Eno, Harold Budd, Daniel Lanois or some other early #ambient artist.
I can imagine it being a GenZ stoner go-to. #jazz #NowPlaying

(If, indeed, Gen Z has a stoner culture like boomers/Gen X did. I read recently that Gen Z drug & alcohol consumption is much lower by comparison)

@Richard_Littler (father of two GenZ) I can anecdotally concur. My kids were/are free to try responsibly and they both have decided that drugs and alcohol are not that satisfying and also damaging, so it's mostly a no.

@jwildeboer @Richard_Littler Yep, again anecdotally the GenZ-ers I know are definitely far less enthused by either drugs or alcohol than earlier generations were.
And that's something I find amazing, given the world circumstances they're living in.
Us GenX-ers had the Cold War and the rise of neo-liberalism to want to escape from. Boomers were just, well, experimenting. Given everything that's happening gesticulates wildly at the world I would forgive any youngster these days for wanting to escape into a world of substance-induced euphoria/amnesia.

@losttourist As my daughter explained to me during an argument (which made me think a lot about how they see the world): "Dad, you had the luxury to get wasted. You left us a broken world and your generation prefers to stay ignorant and drunk instead of helping us fix this mess." @Richard_Littler

@jwildeboer @Richard_Littler Oof, that's harsh. But not entirely untrue, sadly.

@losttourist We agreed that she was right and also that I at least try to make things better, so we are good. But more is needed. @Richard_Littler

@jwildeboer @losttourist @Richard_Littler ooh, thats cute, as if most of us could ever affect things enough to actually make a difference. If she thinks older generations haven't tried, she is in denial or oblivious to the facts. Last I checked, gen Z is no different from the generations before, theyre just more self-conscious about things. Panopticon is real to them, and it shadows everything in their lives

@jwildeboer
My POV - in the UK people were actively protesting and pushing for human rights until the late 80s/early 90s.
Anti nuke Greenham Common and Pride protests were still a thing til then.
Then the striped shirt conservative youth bought into Thatcherism. This led to a "greed is good" and party hard "ees are good" generation enjoying the material benefits.
We relaxed and lost our focus, until genZ picked up the baton against climate change.
