How can I, that moon hanging there,
My attention fix
On American, or Russian,
Or Canadian politics?
Apologies to WB Yeats for appropriating his poem. It’s one of my favourites of his.
I realized late last night that I had been in a terrible mood all day long. Justified, perhaps, by the state of the world. But I looked to beauty and poetry pull me out of it.

"Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity."

Saw the same moon, the same planets earlier and much further south. A reminder that we're all in this together, no matter the divisiveness that others try to create.
