If you ever wonder how civilizations were able to reach enlightenment and then lost it all in just a few generations, we are now experiencing it in real time, and it feels as sad as I would have imagined.

The only people who ever really learn from history are historians (and archaeologists!), and no one really listens to them.

So around and around it goes, each fall losing more than the last, until finally there is nothing left.

There is a way through it, but the last human species needs to learn some humility to see it, and that is always in short supply in the upper echelons of power.
