@chris same! I mostly use LibreTube but have NewPipe just in case. Turning down the noise and focusing only on the stuff you want is so easy with these apps, plus downloads, mini player, turning off the screen, etc. These people are doing god's work.

@maxalmonte14 Exactly, having a customized distraction-free home screen is such a blessing - I only have my subscriptions listed. I don't even see any of these recommendations for naked DIY videos, shorts, ads, political ads or toxic masculinity. The #youtube algorithm is broken - just because I like lifting, it doesn't mean YT can feed me bro culture alpha male bs 🙄

Using LibreTube or NewPipe is self-defence. (And if I really want to support someone, I buy their merch, ebook whatever or occasionally leave some $ on Kofi or Patreon.)

There is absolutely no moral obligation to watch ads. The vast majority of creators does not meet the strict eligibility criteria for the YouTube monetization program. However, YT still can and does show ads, most creators just dont get a share of the revenue.

@chris yup, the YouTube algorithm finds a way to turn anything you like into BS pretty quick, and using it without logging in is even worse, they just skip the pleasantries and feed you straight bigotry. I was dumbstruck when I learned according to their terms and services they can show ads on anybody's channels, that sucks, no bullshit channels like Scott The Woz end up serving ads to their millions of viewers without ever seeing a single dollar from YouTube.
