This kind of data capture reveal is quite typical when you visit a website from outside the US because the local law requires it. Most of these were defaulted to ON. You don’t see the options if you are visiting the site while in the States, so you don’t know what is being gathered.

But hey, land of the free and all that, and remember to fear the Chinese chatbot.

@GrantMeStrength I use the Consent-O-Matic browser extension to deal with these most of the time, but every now and then there's a site doing stuff so sneaky it fails.
