This kind of data capture reveal is quite typical when you visit a website from outside the US because the local law requires it. Most of these were defaulted to ON. You don’t see the options if you are visiting the site while in the States, so you don’t know what is being gathered.

But hey, land of the free and all that, and remember to fear the Chinese chatbot.

How about we stop all the AI stuff until we have fixed climate change? Once we get that sorted, playing with AI (in a responsible way) can be our reward.

The power requirements for AI will only make things worse. Those saying “but AI will help fix it!” are deluding themselves.

Does it even need to be said that when giving a speech in public it’s a good idea to avoid making gestures that could even be misconstrued to look like a NAZI salute?

Can only assume this was on purpose, either “for laughs” (because he’s a dick) on on purpose (because he’s a dick).

Oops, I can feel the wave of anger about work starting to grow again, but hopefully I can distract it by watching Severance - a show about a dystopian work environment. Haha. There’s no point caring about it. It doesn’t care about me.

I’m 💯 sure the inauguration fund will be used wisely, and all accounting related to it will be accurate and not shady.

There is an app called Raycast for Mac and it’s easily got the most confusing website I’ve ever seen. I honestly can’t tell what it does. I wonder if the entire website was built by AI, as it’s has that “looks technical oh wait it’s total gibberish” thing going on.

Sad about current state of where I work.

Teams designed to support the entire purpose of the org, have started to believe they’re the reason the org exists.

Managers don’t empower, they constrain, using more and more bureaucracy.

Highest profile teams are PMs that try and control how key teams do their job. As they have no understanding of what or how that work is done, they just interfere and actively prevent work from being done.

When I was in secondary school in the UK we were made to fill out “computerized” career advice forms. Check some box and the computer returned your suggested career and university courses.

It was amazing how many of us were told that marine engineering and chemical engineering was an exact match for us.

I’ve just worked out it was probably peek North Sea Gas time and the country decided it needed people to work in that field: so that’s how we were steered.

And so ironic that it’s about Lisp - the grandpappy of AI languages. I’m sure John McCarthy would have been delighted? Disappointed?
