We noticed at Woolworths yesterday that two of the checkout staff were wearing little cameras, hung around their necks, labeled "VIDEO AND AUDIO". What's going on?
It felt creepy, indeed deliberately inhospitable β as did all the half-shelved stock on the floors that even their own staff were tripping over.

@libroraptor i think i remember them complaining about this recently, how they are bullied by some horrible system into being more efficient
but maybe itβs to help stop codgers from abusing them π€·

@airshipper Thanks! So it looks like we could help them by complaining about our own disappointment. I really don't want to go back to that branch any more. Though it's hard to choose otherwise around here with only a New World and a Fresh Choice to compete against two β soon three β Countdowns.
The next two towns are also Countdown-dominated. Further along there's a Pak-n-Save.
If staff-coercers is what they are, it also explains why the two wearers looked so beaten-down.

@leighelse Probably worth adding that the two staff members were looking conspicuously awkward. I was wondering whether something bad might have happened earlier in the day. That particular branch gives me the impression of having struggled a bit with keeping the shelves stocked lately, and with staff morale.
