I'm really on a roll with cinema visits (trying to build up my new Meetup group, found a number of films I just have to see!).
Tonight it's Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Never saw it before, hope I'll like it. A friend can't wait to hear what I think (he loves it), so I really do need to go.
I must say that I'm even more looking forward to seeing Blade Runner, The Final Cut on Sunday!
Good films seem to be just like buses: there's several coming along when you were desperately waiting for one.

@Giselle Bladerunner will look amazing! It's such a beautiful film in the first place anyway.
Not that a very young teenage me appreciated it back in the day.
"It's sci-fi, it has Harrison Ford, why's it so boring!"
😂

@UKFilmNerd I can't wait to see it!
And LOL, I know what you mean, I felt a bit disappointed when I saw this first time and it's totally grown on me since. But when I saw it on TV I was waiting for the tears in rain monologue and I'm not sure what happened but I felt like I missed it. Surely this must be in all the versions?
I'm very glad the PCC are showing it, it's good to support them now that the landlord is threatening them w/ a shitty contract. Surely London doesn't need yet another hotel?

@Giselle Yeah, you can see what the landlord really wants.PCC is a great cinema, I've managed to get there a few times.

@UKFilmNerd
It's horrible as soon as the landlord manages to get this six months rule into the new contract, then PCC will be out on its ear six months later. Pretty much.
I must say that I wondered about the location. It is such a prime piece of real estate, it would be a prized target for a developer, to tear down and build yet another hotel or luxury appartements. But how many more can be profitable...?
Where could the PCC go? Would have to be custom built or take over an existing cinema...

@UKFilmNerd
...The Garden Cinema seems to have a good thing going on. They're just finishing building their third screen, I think on the first floor. Can't wait to see what it's like (should be done on 6 Feb).
Maybe the cinema owner owns the building? I'm not sure. I know he has his legal chambers there.
Love the place, it's my favourite cinema. Have you been?

@Giselle Not been. I live outside of London and rarely get in.
In context, I saw Hot Fuzz at the PCC with the cast doing a live commentary. That was a long day as Edgar Wright introduced Hard Boiled and The Last Boy Scout beforehand. Edgar mentioned in an interview, those who get in first will be treated specially. Started queuing at 10pm the previous evening, 3rd in the Q. No special treatment.
I also saw a great film there called Ashens and the Quest for the Gamechild with director and cast.

@UKFilmNerd Live commentary sounds great, what a shame that they didn't come through on the special treatment, that sucks big time.
If you're ever in London and want to give the Garden Cinema a look, they do all kinds of different films, and also event type things, Q&As, interview/panel that can be very interesting. I saw Jim Broadbent's "A sense of history" short film (Mike Leigh directed) there, with live interview with Jim. It was a lovely evening, really enjoyed it.
