I still can't actually do any work at work, because they haven't given me local admin access on my laptop. I can't install any of the tools I use. I can't even restore the backup I made of my old laptop. IT claims it's going to take 4 days for them to get around to my admin request.
How do big companies function?! This is insane.

Back in The Good Old Days if you needed a laptop the company IT department either had a small stack on hand or they'd say "Oh yeah just go down to the store and expense one" and that was that. It's such a nightmare now. Security and all that, yes, I get it, but it makes life so much worse. Everything is terrible now.

@tilton I wish so badly I could just expense a decent laptop. Our "standard" is a Surface Laptop 4.
I love starting the computer and seeing a baseline usage of 70% CPU/60% RAM before I even launch an application (thanks to all the security crap running on there).
