Working in the silence of our (rarely) empty community pottery studio and trimming/refining these lidded forms. They are made by making a closed form, indenting a "gallery" somewhere near the top, and using a pin tool to cut the lid area from the body of the pot during trimming.
I'm not very practiced with this, but the only way to get better is through repetition.
These are options for a friend who wants an urn for her pup's ashes.

@LJ I love the dog. It reminds me of a pot I saw in a historical museum on Crete. It was at least three thousand years old and it had the shape of a little house with an animal (I think a dog) lying on the roof.
