A thing I really like about the interconnected Fediverse services: they allow me to choose how I like to do things much more freely.
For example: I use Pixelfed to look at pretty pictures. Someone else posts pics on Mastodon → no worries, I can follow that from my Pixelfed account and get the images in my feed.
Another person posts interesting updates on Pixelfed, Instagram-style. I can subscribe to those from Mastodon and keep Pixelfed for photos. Others get to do their thing, I can do mine.
