A thing I really like about the interconnected Fediverse services: they allow me to choose how I like to do things much more freely.
For example: I use Pixelfed to look at pretty pictures. Someone else posts pics on Mastodon → no worries, I can follow that from my Pixelfed account and get the images in my feed.
Another person posts interesting updates on Pixelfed, Instagram-style. I can subscribe to those from Mastodon and keep Pixelfed for photos. Others get to do their thing, I can do mine.

Annoyed by IT pros and journos who should know better but keep swallowing and regurgitating marketing hype as is.
For example:
Bluesky is not distributed.
DeepSeek is not open source.
These are terms that have – or at least used to – actual meaning.

The morning bus.
A new person enters. Looks at the bus that is almost half full, anxious. Almost sits beside another person. Goes back to sit at a four-person booth, having to face another person. But at least they have the two adjoining seats to themselves.
The one who they almost sat with immediately moves to the outer seat, blocking the other seat, to prevent the close call from happening again.
