There, I have stockpiled on keyboards, hopefully for at least half a decade (they do have decent lifespan, but I do use two of them concurrently).
Should give me some time and peace of mind to decide what's next now that this one (TypeMatrix 2030) is out of production.
I was regretting when I opened the package to not have taken a couple of extra sleeves (because these are more fragile than the keyboards) but I actually still have two brand new ones on my shelf already.

@Balise What, the 2030 is out of production?

@miodvallat yeah, they sent that on their newsletter at the beginning of the month
specifically: "Additionally, our existing TypeMatrix 2030 model is no longer in production, as our previous factory left our plastic tooling unmaintained and now unusable. New tooling for existing models is prohibitively expensive. While we will continue selling our remaining inventory, shortages are inevitable."
they say they're still open for business and working on developing stuff, but tl;dr hardware expensive to make, and they have a funding issue right now

@Balise I should probably subscribe to their newsletter...
But winte^Wmodel 2040 is coming, right? Right?

@miodvallat "But let me be clear: this is not the end.
We are tirelessly exploring every possible avenue to secure funding and resume our journey. We are conserving resources, and preparing for a stronger rebound. Your support, your loyalty, and your belief in this mission mean the world to us. Comments are welcome."
I read that as "... yeeeeeesssss? not out of hope yet?"

@Balise TBH, if sourcing model 2030 becomes difficult, that's not really my problem, but my employer's... 😋

@Balise my understanding is they need someone to back them up financially so the 2040 can eventually be produced. I have a spare 2030 on top of the one I'm using, but I'm going to purchase at least another one methinks...
For the skins it seemed to me they were less complicated to make, so there may be hope for continuous production yet.

@Balise maybe another scale of a project (requires some electronics skills), but I made an opensource PCB for an ortholinear #MechanicalKeyboard that is quite close to the TMx2030
