I wouldn’t fault anyone who truly isn’t able to afford a work of art for getting it off the record. In this case, yes, sharing art is preferrable to not sharing. But puffing out your chest and being proud of thinking of artist compensation as optional, openly encouraging it, is infuriating to me.

You don’t deserve art if you don’t appreciate the person who made it.

You know who else thinks like this about artists? Corporations.

So, yeah, well done, you truly are sticking it to “the man”.
