A friend of mine works in IT in the US District court system. We were talking this weekend about security things and it came up that none of their end user machines (desktops or laptops) are full disk encrypted.
I was fucking aghast. It is 2025 and there is not a federal mandate for FDE across all systems. FFS, we've been doing this in corporate systems for over a decade or more.
Bitlocker released in 2007. Filevault 2 in 2011. This isn't new stuff. SMDH.

Am I surprised? No... The USgov has been getting Ds and Fs on security report cards for years. But this is bare minimum level protection that is easy to automate these days.
