I will also apply new thermal paste to the CPU and heatsink.

A whole lot of HP BIOS and firmware updates after the motherboard replacement. Taking a bit of time to make sure that they are all done.
A curious thing is that some BIOS and firmware updates were started automatically after putting the previous SSD in, without having connected to the internet.

It took me a long time to get sound working on this HP EliteBook 850 G6 laptop with Windows 10. I had to go into the BIOS and enable Intel ME / AMT
To enable Intel Active Management Technology (Intel AMT) on an HP EliteBook 860 G6 in the BIOS, follow these steps:
Restart your computer and enter the BIOS setup. This is typically done by pressing the F10 key during the initial boot screen.
Navigate to the Advanced section within the BIOS setup.
Look for the Remote Management Options or a similar section that pertains to remote management and Intel AMT.
Within this section, find the option to enable or configure Active Management Technology (AMT).
Ensure that AMT is enabled and configured according to your needs.
