Hey, question for you.

I haven't paid much attention in years to virtualization within Windows, as I mainly use Linux.

I used to use VirtualBox on Windows to set up VMs of Windows XP for people who needed it for running older applications or VMs for trying out Linux.

Is VirtualBox still the 'go-to' software for that?

Is there anything else that is recommended?

This is a new Lenovo ThinkCentre M75s computer.

First time I have worked with one of these newer AMD AM5 machines with PC5 memory. Upgraded it to 32GB memory and 500GB nvme SSD, both Crucial brand.

Running some tests on it it now.

Will be putting Windows 11 on it for the customer who bought it. Wish I could keep Linux on it.

Impressive low profile machine.

I just had a late lunch.

Fried up some sheep liver and onions. The sheep was born, pastured, butchered and fried in a cast iron pan all within 200 yards.

Just got this message from an older woman who bought a refurbished ThinkPad with Linux to replace her ailing Toshiba that also had Linux on it (I installed it for her a while ago).

I am going to be unboxing a new Lenovo ThinkCentre M75s desktop computer with AM5 processor today.

First AM5 machine I've worked with. Will be upgrading the memory to 32GB and the storage with a larger and faster nvme SSD than it came with.

I am happy that RFK will likely be confirmed. That doesn't mean I agree with everything he says or all his political positions.

I got a gaming computer in for testing today.

It has both a 2TB Samsung SSD and Intel i7 13th generation CPU, both of which have seen early failures and problems.

There's a chance this custom gaming build suffers from both of these issues. I'll find out soon.

It took me a long time to get sound working on this HP EliteBook 850 G6 laptop with Windows 10. I had to go into the BIOS and enable Intel ME / AMT

To enable Intel Active Management Technology (Intel AMT) on an HP EliteBook 860 G6 in the BIOS, follow these steps:

Restart your computer and enter the BIOS setup. This is typically done by pressing the F10 key during the initial boot screen.

Navigate to the Advanced section within the BIOS setup.

Look for the Remote Management Options or a similar section that pertains to remote management and Intel AMT.

Within this section, find the option to enable or configure Active Management Technology (AMT).

Ensure that AMT is enabled and configured according to your needs.

A whole lot of HP BIOS and firmware updates after the motherboard replacement. Taking a bit of time to make sure that they are all done.

A curious thing is that some BIOS and firmware updates were started automatically after putting the previous SSD in, without having connected to the internet.

I replaced the motherboard in an HP EliteBook 850 G6 laptop today. Getting it all back together and it is working as it should.

I will also apply new thermal paste to the CPU and heatsink.

Excellent!

Now they'll have to at least think a little bit to decide what to believe instead of just believing CNN and the Fact Checkers.

Terrible logic. Too generalist in its pronouncement.

Trump is getting people to quit Big Tech!

It is excellent that politically left-leaning and Liberal people are finally taking significant action and leaving Big Tech platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter behind.

Significantly less people using these platforms will reduce their influence to censor information and also lower their profits (less people to see advertisements).

Public Note to Self:

If manual changes to the apache web server access log are made (reducing size by removing old entries), the apache service has to be restarted for the web server to start logging to that file again.

I'd like to know people's recommendations on VPS hosts, too.

I am currently using Digital Ocean for a work project and has been good to work with so far. Not sure if Digital Ocean "droplets" count as VPS, but seems equivalent to me.
