Everybody thinks living in nature is so peaceful until you have a coyote sitting right outside your window at 3am howling his head off for twenty minutes.

@TomF Foxes can sound like crying babies then make the most unearthly noises the next moment. Owl calls are cute until they donโ€™t stop all night right outside your window. Still take it over city sounds any day.

@drakeblue We do get the "who cooks for you" Barred Owls. They're OK actually. Their kids make this awful hissing screech though. It's a happy day for both humans and parents when they learn to sing properly.

@TomF Aw - those guys are amazing though. The way they orbit their heads about is hilarious ๐Ÿ˜‚

Sadly I never got to see the owls that used to keep me awake since the foliage was very thick in the trees out back and they were very shy despite being so noisy all night.

@StompyRobot Oh yeah I love the mechanicals. But that's also true of tanks and aircraft.

I have fired a whole bunch of guns in my life. They are incredibly good at doing what they're designed to do, which is letting almost anybody kill other people without really thinking too hard about it. Nobody should ever have one.

@TomF if you live closer to a bear than to a daycare, I think owning a shotgun isn't unreasonable, but, yeah
