Following @TheBreadmonkey ‘s Good News vibe, there’s a website called Good Gourds and they list 72 types of squash and pumpkins, and some of the names are fantastic.

@tayfonay @TheBreadmonkey aThe Good Gourd sounds like a great name for a vegan/vegetarian restaurant.

@CoachMark @tayfonay @TheBreadmonkey That sounds like the kind of place that would have zero dishes based on the bitter gourd, perhaps the most evil player in the vegetable kingdom.

@CoachMark Both the wife and I decided to gamble on a bitter gourd dish, even after the waitress warned us it might be a bit different from what our pale faces were used to, for one of her birthday dinners some years ago at a Pakistani/Indian restaurant. It was an unforgettable experience. @tayfonay @TheBreadmonkey

Bizarrely, my very pale German mom loves bitter gourd, whereas I, despite my Bengali dad, HATE it! And I've never seen it on the menu in an Indian restaurant here in Canada. Mind you, Indian restaurant food tends to be on the sweet side here, catering to local tastes.

@echanda It's not typically on the menu around here either, which was why we were both so eager to try. @CoachMark @tayfonay @TheBreadmonkey

I hope it hasn't extinguished your food curiosity forever! I just had raw oysters--and liked them--for the first time last week... at age 59! (I didn't like the idea of eating something alive, but my sister and cousin assured me that shucking kills them, and reliable sources on the net confirmed this)

@echanda I think I'm still pretty open and adventurous within the bounds of vegetarianism :) @CoachMark @tayfonay @TheBreadmonkey
