as a child, i thought the emperor's new clothes was a fictional story, a fable that takes its premise to a silly conclusion in order to teach a moral lesson

as an adult, i see that we are living in the emperor's new clothes universe and the tailors are busy preparing a new suit every week

@typeswitch i read something today about snake oil to the effect of… snake oil salesmen aren’t interested in solving a real problem. people who have real problems that can be solved by a product only buy one product. however if you invent a fake problem, it won’t be solved by the snake oil and people will keep buying snake oil forever. idk i am still thinking about it and it seems related.
