i'm using a music program that has a broken shuffle. instead of fixing it, the developers added a second shuffle mode that is also broken.

to be specific, the shuffle modes are now:

• "shuffle", which internally creates a random permutation of the playlist and then repeats this permutation forever. so if you listen to this for too long the songs start repeating in the same order.

• "random", which picks a random song each time, without consideration for whether a song has just been played or not.

@typeswitch There are probably a lot of opinions about the “correct” thing to do here … and most music players seem to give only one or two poor options 😕
