Said goodbye to Snowball this morning. She came to us as a foster together with Cody. But her vet exam revealed lung cancer, with a guess that she had 3 months. So we adopted her as a hospice dog. A real "Heinz 57": Aus. Cattle Dog, Anatolian, Pyrenees, "American Eskimo Dog", Bluetick, Beagle, Komondor, Cocker Spaniel. Always watching. Had her silly moments when she got excited and flounced around. So thankful that she ended up spending 18 months with us.

@pid_eins Does systems-remount-fs not like /dev/mapper paths? Switching to a different disk for boot/root on a ubuntu 22.04 system and I used that type of path for / in fstab and it didn't give errors on boot but didn't remount as rw either which was not helpful. Changed to a /dev/disk/by-uuid/ path and now it's working ...

A very sweet pittie puppy being examined by Dr. Pierce, a volunteer vet at some of our clinics in the past (this is 2015). Whenever he came, I was drawn to take pictures of the animals he examined, not just because of the animals (always cute) but somehow because his hands were an irresistible subject.

[#]LeechLakeLegacy was the invited charity at #FurryMigration in 2017. "Bart the Dumpster Dog" was a lovely friendly dog who was not concerned about fursuits at all. Unfortunately I don't know the furry's name.

I'm posting lots of pictures from my work with leechlakelegacy.org today. Mostly to help provide a positive feed of furry creatures today. But we can use donations to help with gas for our transport vans and medical supplies for our wellness clinics. In the first half of 2024 we've transported 966 animals to other rescues & shelters, and provided medical care for 469 owned animals.

A temperature monitor for the fridge the animal rescue I work with uses to store their supply of vaccines. LCD displays temperature and current time. #HomeAssistant makes it easy to throw together firmware for the ESP32S2 dev board driving it. DS18B20 temp sensor, and I2C LCD. NTP time sync, and a Prometheus metrics page for a Linux box to scrape. 90 lines of yaml.
