Fuck Neil Gaiman for recognising his accusers with a post called "breaking the silence" -- over the years, plenty of us have used that term more appropriately and/or given it greater meaning (his victims, for starters).

@MediaActivist
"I hope that with the help of good people, I'll continue to grow." -> notpology is a useful word, but now we need a new one that's about vomit-inducing self-actualization themes

@MediaActivist I probably shouldn't but these days I tend to assume guilt unless proven otherwise when famous men get accused of sexual assault by multiple women. I've yet to be proven wrong.
I noticed with pleasure this morning that a lot of his projects have been "postponed" or cancelled. I'm always a bit sad to have to cull my shelves of books/films by these people but it's not like I'm ever going to read/watch them again.

@fkamiah17 I agree with you totally. And "cancel culture" is a myth; a rebranding of what was simply known as accountability, where so many men in positions of influence have continued to enjoy their luxuries and even returned to a grand stage after having been "cancelled." And with the current political climate, it will only get worse.

@MediaActivist Exactly. What you call cancellation I call consequences.
The rapid erosion of women's rights in the west is worrying. Biological slavery is a growth industry and misogyny is a vote-winner.

@MediaActivist I remember having an absolutely blazing row about it with a bunch of gammons in my local town around the time of the Brexit vote. Very much the "you can't say anything these days" bullshit. I handed them their arses. It was very fun indeed 😂

@fkamiah17 Good for you. That old line always amuses - or more likely bemuses - me. I remember that browser plugin that switched the term "political correctness" to "treating people with respect" on news websites; it was fun to see it change "Has political correctness gone too far?" to "Has treating people with respect gone too far?" I mean, what "can't" they say? They are the biggest snowflakes around, because they're offended by so many things that don't even affect them and it is in fact us who "can't say" things nowadays: can't utter different pronouns, can't acknowledge the existence of genderqueer people, can't even call vegan cheese "cheese" ...I mean what the hell. Why don't they at least be honest and admit they just want to be free to be ignorant and hateful?

@MediaActivist Cishet white men's belief that they should be able to say what they want how they want when they want but have no negative consequences attached to it, however minimal, is a major cause of society's ills. I'm not saying there aren't plenty of other genders or minorities who have hideous views, but who's been ruling the world for the last 1,000 years?
