I strongly oppose the Employment Relations (Pay Deductions for Partial Strikes) Amendment Bill. The balance of power between employees and employers is inherently biased in favour of employers. This bill would make it worse by undermining the rights of employees, and the negotiating power of unions, which would cause more problems than it would solve.

The Employment Relations (Pay Deductions for Partial Strikes) Amendment Bill should be abandoned. The whole point of a democratic government is to represent the interests of the people, including defending them from the interests of businesses. The government should therefore not be making laws that shift the balance of power even more toward employers than it already is.
