The previous years of slow, expensive, meagre upload speeds with ridiculous data caps (unlimited data just $20/month extra) was fine before AT&T showed up apparently.

ATT is selling snake oil in my neighborhood.
There is no current fibre even running close, and as they found out, laying fibre cable in solid rock is a problem.
They are selling something, but I suspect it is just 5G.
The neighbors are buying snake oil.
